Peer Review Process

Foreco: Jurnal Kehutanan dan Lingkungan implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the scientific quality, originality, and integrity of all published manuscripts. The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors submit their manuscripts electronically through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS). All submissions must comply with the journal’s focus and scope, author guidelines, and ethical standards.

2. Initial Editorial Assessment

The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor conducts an initial screening to evaluate:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

  • Originality and academic contribution

  • Compliance with formatting and submission requirements

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

3. Plagiarism Screening

Manuscripts passing the initial assessment are screened using plagiarism detection software. Submissions exceeding the journal’s acceptable similarity threshold will be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.

4. Assignment to Section Editor

The manuscript is assigned to a Section Editor with relevant expertise, who oversees the peer review process and selects appropriate reviewers.

5. Reviewer Selection

At least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise are invited to review the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on academic qualifications, research experience, and absence of conflicts of interest.

6. Double-Blind Review Process

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript anonymously based on:

  • Originality and significance of the research

  • Methodological rigor and validity of results

  • Clarity of presentation and structure

  • Relevance of references and discussion

Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommendations within the specified review period.

7. Review Outcomes

Based on reviewers’ reports, the editorial decision may be:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

The decision and anonymized reviewer comments are communicated to the authors.

8. Revision by Authors

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewers’ and editors’ comments and submit a revised version along with a response to reviewers.

9. Re-Review (if required)

For major revisions, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation.

10. Final Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on acceptance or rejection based on the revised manuscript and reviewers’ recommendations.

11. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting to improve language clarity, consistency, and formatting, followed by proofreading by the authors.

12. Layout and Publication

The final manuscript is prepared for online publication, assigned a DOI, and published in the current or upcoming issue of the journal.
